About United Council

The United Council of UW Students is one of the nation's oldest, largest and most effective statewide student associations, representing more than 100,000 students on 19 University of Wisconsin campuses. Founded in 1960, United Council is a non-partisan, non-profit, student-directed organization committed to enhancing the quality of student life and protecting access to higher education in Wisconsin.

United Council and its eight full-time staff members are governed by a board of directors. Its policies are set by the General Assembly and executed by students throughout its member campuses.

Through grassroots campaigns, United Council has proven effective in keeping the voices of students heard within the state's political system. UC also provides the tools necessary for winning campaigns, including educational materials, trainings, and networking.
